Intangible memory in a cookie tin
Evoking the idea of boxes of sweets, cookies, or quince jelly that were once used to treasure photographs and memories, the latálogo—the official catalog of the exhibition—immerses us in an exciting journey into the past through the 80 postcards that this precious collector's item holds inside, reproducing a careful selection of photographs from more than 45 different family albums.
80 postcards, 14 micro-stories, countless memories
Fourteen postcards feature a fictional micro-story on the back, written by Alberto Olmos, Cristina Colmena, Cristina Pato, Eduardo Lago, Kirmen Uribe, Manuel Vilas, María Dueñas, Marina Perezagua, Mateo Sancho, Mercedes Cebrián, Natalia Carrero, Sara Cordón, as well as the curators themselves, James D. Fernández and Luis Argeo.
Asturias edition, Almeria edition, and Tampa edition
For the tour in Asturias, a new edition of the catalog was published with a fold-out page detailing this stage and including a micro-story by Asturian writer Ángeles Caso. The same formula was followed in Almería, with another fold-out dedicated to its Andalusian tour and a micro-story by Juan Manuel Gil, a native of Almería and winner of the 2021 Biblioteca Breve Prize. At the Tampa venue, we also added a new fold-out with a micro-story by writer and descendant of Spanish immigrants Tony Carreño.
